Mayo Clinic Awards Gift to WeCareJax to Support Uninsured Neighbors
Decades-Long Collaboration Continues to Provide Life-Saving Specialty Care in Duval County
Jacksonville, FL (January 21, 2025)— We Care Jacksonville, Inc. (WeCareJax) is proud to announce a $150,000 gift from Mayo Clinic, reinforcing a long-standing collaboration dedicated to improving access to specialty healthcare for uninsured residents of Duval County. Mayo Clinic’s gift will directly support programs that connect uninsured neighbors to lifesaving medical care, ensuring no one is left behind when it comes to their health.
For decades, Mayo Clinic has been an ally and community collaborator in WeCareJax’s mission of coordinating compassionate specialty healthcare with individualized support for our uninsured neighbors in need. Their continued support has helped thousands of neighbors in need to receive critical specialty services, from cancer treatment to cardiology care, at no cost to the patient or their family.
“Mayo Clinic’s generosity allows us to extend access to lifesaving care and hope to those who need it most,” said Angela Strain, Executive Director of WeCareJax. “This collaboration is a true example of the power of a community working together to ensure equitable access to healthcare in our community.”
With one in six adults in Duval County still uninsured, the demand for access to medical care continues to grow. This gift will help address the increasing need, providing wrap-around support for our uninsured neighbors facing complex diagnosis and ensuring they receive compassionate medical care, regardless of their ability to pay.
“Mayo Clinic is delighted to support the critical and life-changing services that We Care is providing to our community to improve individual and population health outcomes”, says Maisha Robinson, M.D., Chair, Community Relations Committee, Mayo Clinic in Florida.
