Patient Success Story – Adriana
Adriana (middle), a current primary care patient at the MASS clinic, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Her story demonstrates what many patients know: a health crisis can mean years of treatment and follow-up on the road to wellness.
After receiving this devastating diagnosis, Adriana was connected to WeCareJax to ensure she found the care that she so greatly needed. In 2015, Adriana began receiving chemo and radiation thanks to the compassionate care offered by Baptist Hospital, a WeCareJax referral partner, under the care of medical oncologist volunteer Mahammed Khan, MD – 21 Century Oncology.
Fast forward to the present day: Dr. Mohammed Khan, continues to follow up with Adriana every three to six months to ensure she remains cancer-free post-treatment. As a precautionary measure, Adriana continues to receive routine mammograms every six months at the Hills Breast Center at Baptist Health. Her last is one scheduled for April 2020, when we hope she will get the all-clear. After April, Adriana will most likely only need to see Dr. Khan annually, and continue with mammograms once a year.
“WeCareJax has been my life savior,” said Adriana. She shared that she is very grateful for the many services she has received thanks to the support of her team at WeCareJax.
