2019 Caring Celebration Honoree – Elizabeth A. Johnson, M.D.
We are pleased to introduce our second, and final, individual will be honored at this year’s Caring Celebration on Monday, August 23rd, Dr. Elisabeth Johnson!
Dr. Elizabeth Johnson is an established and highly skilled physician with over 40 years of experience in medical oncology. She is well regarded in the community for her quality, compassion, and patient-centered care at Mayo Clinic is an amazing partner of WeCareJax!
Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Temple University. She obtained her medical degree and completed her residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed her training with a fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Hematology and Oncology.
Dr. Johnson has been practicing at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL since 1996, with the past 3 years being spent at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center at St. Vincent’s/Riverside. Johnson specializes in the care of medical oncology patients including patients with lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
In addition to her clinical activities, Johnson is also an assistant professor of oncology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. She has led 39 clinical trials in an effort to discover improved treatments for cancer. She has authored over 40 articles and abstracts publicizing her work and findings. Johnson is certified in internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Johnson and her husband reside in Jacksonville, FL and have two adult children and five grandchildren. When she’s not at work caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her family and swimming.
