WeCareJax Board President: Dr. Estrellita Redmon

Dr. Estrellita Redmon is the Chief Clinical Officer at Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast. An alumna of both Florida A&M University and the University of Florida, Dr. Redmon is passionate about bringing quality, compassionate care to her home state.

Dr. Redmon began her career in primary care and eventually shifted her focus to healthcare administration. In an interview with Jax Daily Record, Dr. Redmon stated that her mission matches Ascension’s: to “deliver health care that has equality and equity attached to it.”

Dr. Redmon has been an integral part of our WeCareJax board since 2013 and we are grateful for her continued service to health equity in Duval County!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spending time with my husband, writing and traveling.

How did you get involved with WeCareJax?

I met one of the previous executive directors, Dr. Sue Nussbaum, when Ascension St. Vincent’s was starting a transitional care clinic for primary care. We were interested in placing uninsured patients into the most accessible and appropriate patient centered medical home.

Top 3 Favorite Things about Duval County:

1. The community and people are awesome to meet and work with.

2. The entertainment and sports ( Jags, Jumbo Shrimp, and Icemen)!

3. The city is surrounded by water (I love the beach and the river). Both are very relaxing for me.
